Ken and Harry had moved to Nottingham. Ken wanted to get away from the memory of Margaret Daly who had moved to California, so he set up his own detective agency, Boon Investigations, in a small office near Nottingham Castle. Harry had sold the Plaza Suite and was now co-running Woodcote Park, a hotel and country club, with Helen Yeldham, a widow who had advertised for a business partner; he had also invested in Boon Investigations. In the first episode, “Walking Off Air”, Ken and Harry met Laura Marsh when she was working as a receptionist for a local radio station. When she was sacked from the radio station, Ken offered her the job of secretary and personal assistant at Boon Investigations. Initially Rocky stayed behind in Birmingham to run Texas Rangers, which Ken had signed over to him, but he soon decided that he preferred to be an investigator so (in “Vallance’s Liberty”) he sold the company and moved to Nottingham to work for Ken.
In “The Eyes Of Texas”, Harry and Helen were about to sell Woodcote Park because it was losing money. Ken was planning to start a new life in Texas with Rebecca Patterson (Pamela Bellwood) until he witnessed her kill her estranged husband whom she had employed him to find.
