Notes
Suzi lands next to the Hythe (sink/cinque port with Harrow’s head) Imperial Hotel, and gets a lift in the sidecar of a Honda Gold Wing motorbike to St Leonard’s Church. The crypt is used as an ossuary (Len’s skulduggery), and the clue is on the shelf under skull number 90 (under 90). The skull next to the clue has a hole from a trepanning operation (a hole in the head).
Physician William Harvey, who discovered the circulation of the blood, was born in Folkestone, where Russian submarine U475 (Black Widow, comrade) became a tourist attraction in the harbour in 1997, but closed to the public on 6 Oct 2002 for ‘relocation’. Once inside the sub, Suzi briefly takes the camera while Guy and Simon climb through a narrow hatch, giving viewers their only glimpse of the film crew during the whole of Series 8. The clue is in the control area, near the ‘heads’ or toilets (and beside the head, seize control).
The helicopter heads north, following the A260 Canterbury road (the road to Durovernum) to the village of Denton (a small dent on) and over the temporary studio in Broome Park. Dermot walks to the window and waves to Suzi as she flies overhead. English humourist Rev Richard Harris Barham, who was born in Canterbury, wrote ‘Ingoldsby Legends’ (Barham’s booked it in gold) which featured nearby Tappington Hall. The clue is on the staircase under a notch in the stair rail (Mark to flight).
Suzi flies north again (oop north) in the direction the village of Patrixbourne (where Patrick’s born). Count Louis Zborowski lived in nearby Higham Park Hall (where Louis lived) and built three aero-engined cars, all called ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ (“your fine four-fendered friend” in the film title song). One of the Chittys is waiting outside. After looking under the car’s bonnet, Suzi finds the clue under the hat (bonnet) of the car’s current owner.
Suzi and the crew get a ride in ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ (going for a spin) to the entrance to the Italian water garden (Giardino’s wet). She runs to the temple at the end of the lake where Louis (Louis two) – whose parents worked at Higham Park Hall, and who was named after Count Louis Zborowski – is waiting with the treasure.
