Notes
Anneka has to take a speedboat to get to a yellow buoy that’s attached to a lobster pot containing the clue.
“Mad-dog timing” refers to the song “Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun” – midday is also the time that the castle’s cannons are fired. Also a cornet is a brass instrument, hence “fortified by the sound of brass” refers to Castle Cornet.
Victor Hugo lived at Hauteville House for 15 years, whilst he was in exile. The clue is hidden in a book on his desk, in the study at the top of the house.
Anneka has to abseil down the concrete tower to the third look-out slit, where the treasure (a small trumpet) is located.
