Notes | |
● | This was a special Christmas episode to mark the start of the new series. |
● | As usual, the cameraman was Graham Berry and the video engineer was Frank Meyburgh, but the helicopter was flown by Frank Wynn (instead of Keith Thompson). |
1 | Instead of the usual two contestants, a father, mother and their two sons played. Different family members solved different clues. |
2 | Circus World, north-west of Finn’s Island (Huckleberry Finn was Tom Sawyer’s friend) and the trapeze (trap-ez-i-um is a type of quadrilateral) at the Be A Star Circus. A terrified Annie has to swing on a trapeze before finding the clue on the safety rope. |
3 | Using the Beeline Express (a type of golf buggy driven by a mime artist/clown) Annie goes to Sea World. At the whale and dolphin stadium, she shake hands with Starbuck the dolphin. Starbuck’s trainer has the clue up the left-hand sleeve of his wet suit. |
4 | Annie travels up Reedy Creek in Walt Disney World by the railroad depot. She finds Peter Pan’s Magic Kingdom, then pops all of the red (Manchester United’s colour) balloons. One of them contains the clue. |
5 | Annie travels on a fire engine to Cinderella’s Castle. She meets Mickey Mouse (star of the cartoon ‘Steamboat Willie’) outside the castle, and he has the clue inside his waistcoat. |
6 | Annie rides on an old London bus (Reg Varney from ‘On the Buses’), and passes the areas designed to represent Mexico and St Mark’s Square in Venice, stopping short of the Japanese Shinto Temple Gate. The American Adventure is before this temple, and the treasure is a crocodile (snap) held by two men in 18th century colonial costume. |
