Suzi flies by Melbourne’s central business district (CBD)
to Old Melbourne Gaol (goal – sort of) and looks in the Old Wing for a replica
of the face (visage) of Ned Kelly (portrayed in a 1969 film by rock star Mick
Jagger). She asks Dudley, a volunteer gaol guide, for directions. “Have you
seen Ned Kelly’s death mask?” “Are you allowed to ask questions?” “Yes! I’m
asking you one!” After finding the mask she runs upstairs (go right up) to the
gallows (don’t get hung up about it) and finds the clue on Kelly’s armour, which
is nearby. |

The helicopter heads (SE) towards the Yarra (backward array)
River to Yarra Park, Melbourne Cricket Ground, also home to Australian Rules
Football (‘aerial ping-pong’). Passing the golden statue of cricket legend Don
Bradman (the don), Suzi enters the stadium and finds the clue in the front row
(sat near the fence) in seat A6 (hit for a six). |

The captain of HMS Beagle – the ship used by Charles Darwin
for scientific expeditions – was Robert Fitzroy (sea area Fitzroy replaced Finisterre
in shipping forecasts). The contestants send Suzi to Fitzroy Gardens and Cook’s
(two chefs) Cottage (Cook was the captain of the Endeavour and this was the
house of his parents; it was moved to Melbourne in 1934) but, after she takes
off, pilot John tells her that he can’t land in the area, so they return to
the cricket ground. Suzi finds a pickup truck, and driver Adrian takes her and
the crew to Cook’s Cottage. The clue is inside a wooden chest (ditty box). |

Suzi flies to the Melbourne Maritime Museum, and to the sailing
ship (barque) ‘Polly Woodside’ (Polly was the maid in the TV sitcom ‘Fawlty
Towers’). After Suzi walks across the gang-plank (walk the plank: do as traitors
did) and boards the ship, the contestants tell her to find the captain’s cabin
and his log (Napier invented logarithms). She was supposed to go left and downstairs
(down some port) but isn’t given accurate directions. When she finds the pilot’s
cabin, the clue is on the shelf behind the compass log. |

Suzi flies (unusually for clue 5) to Batman (pow!-erful man
played by Adam West in the 1960s TV series) Park and to Melbourne Aquarium (vivarium).
On the way she asks Dermot to explain the second part of the clue. “Get help
means ask someone, I suspect, Suzi,” Dermot tells her. “Right – thanks for that,
Dermie,” she says. The helicopter lands and, with time running out, Suzi breaks
into a fast sprint towards the entrance, leaving Warwick and Ric far behind.
Once inside she takes a lift down to the Tattersalls (Newmarket auctioneer)
Ocean Theatre but runs out of time. A diver takes the treasure (a banner marked
‘Treasure’) from hatch number five (5, see). |

Suzi’s sprint to the Aquarium was interrupted by uncooperative
traffic lights! Recording was paused at this point (although editing made it
appear continuous) and Suzi was allowed to continue once the lights turned in
her favour. |
